Digital Mapping Workshops

Learning how to use GIS in the classroom can be overwhelming. Like any technology, there is a learning curve, and honestly, the learning curve with GIS can be pretty steep.

However, there are things you can do to start taking one step at a time.

We are experts in designing and delivering workshops that meet the needs of the teachers in attendance. We always make sure that teachers walk away with something they feel confident doing tomorrow.

Recent Workshops

Like everyone, we pivoted to delivering great content in an online workshop experience. One example is the Digital Mapping Workshop held in July 2021. Funded by National Geographic, this workshop was planned and delivered in partnership with Jim Hanson, an expert teacher (retired) who is the greatest champion for using GIS in the classroom

Knowing that no one wanted to spend hours online, especially in the summer, we designed the workshop to have 12 total contact hours plus 12 hours of “homework” for the participants to complete. We designed two levels, one for beginners and one for those who felt comfortable with GIS. We had close to 50 participants and have seen some great projects!
